alice’s elf hat

image

I have been so so busy with my paid work lately that there has been little time for fun stuff like knitting, making etc - but I did whip up this little baby hat over a couple of nights for a new baby girl in my social circle, wee Alice.

I wanted to make a pixie/elf hat, but couldn’t find a pattern online, so I took a pattern for a fruit hat I have and just adapted it slightly. You’re supposed to knit the hat in red or yellow or orange, the pointy bit in green and then knit and attach two little leaves so it looks like an apple pr orange or lemon etc. So I just ignored that and knitted in in two mohairs, with a contrast brim. You can’t really tell from this photo, but the main mohair goes from blue at the bottom to purple at the top.

OK - back to my work - but it was nice to get the needles out and I look forward to some more making-stuff goodness after another busy week. (mumbles encouragingly to self) “C’mon Helen - you can do it!”

Whew.

Gorgeous little hat. Baby pixies are the cutest little things ever… none of this fairy nonsense. (Well actually the Devil Child ALWAYS wants to be a fairy, but I think she much rather suits the cheeky pixie look)
Anyway, lovely hat and lucky kiddo.

May more “making stuff” goodness come quickly to you . . .

you, dear one, are just the cleverest. I would like to wear a hat like that - my hair could fit inside the peak maybe. I would quite like pointed elf ears also - but I think that might involve surgery and hurt a little.

love you.
