:blue shoes, green buttons:

image

I spied these utilitarian cotton shoes on a sale table for $5 a couple of weeks ago and was drawn to their simple shape and colour.

Back home, I added some green buttons with a super-sharp needle, and voila! sweet new shoes. They are incredibly comfortable and I’ve worn them every day since. There is a photo of me wearing them here.

I wanted to say, too, happy second blog birthday to tiny happy. This beautiful, calm, inspiring blog is the work of my dear friend Melissa.  Melissa is the first ‘blog friend’ I made, and the first person I ever did mail swaps with. A few years ago - we did a ‘colour swap’. Her favourite colour is green, mine red. A parcel arrived in my letter box beautifully wrapped in brown paper and string - there were red sweets, red craft materials (including some fabulous red knitting needles), a vintage copy of Red Riding Hood, red fabric, a red pouch she had made. In short, it was quite wonderful and I felt sure then that I’d met someone who occupied the same whimsical world as me. A lovely moment. I hope tiny happy continues for a long while more - I would certainly miss it immensely! Do click over there as Melissa is giving away a delightful bag as part of her blog birthday.

Happy, rainy Tuesday everyone.

nice work, very camper...although maybe they’d put a button hole on the other shoe. All their shoes are made in china these days too, sigh.

Hey! I have size 11 feet too - great. These shoes are the business!

What cute shoes and a wonderful blog (sneaked over from Melissa’s blog where I lurk and occasionally say hi..).  I love your stripy socks - I used to have quite a few pairs of long stripy socks and of course my Granny called my ‘Pippy Long Stockings.’

I have size 11 feet too! I was sure yours were smaller.. are they small fitting shoes? I can never find sweet little shoes that fit.

Thanks for the lovely comments, everyone.

Rhi and Emma - I don’t have size 11 feet - these are just weird sizing because they are chinese. I’m a size nine usually. So you guys would probably need a 13 in these. They had hot pink too!

xx Helen

Oh man - see the excitement we both had to find someone with size 11 feet and now those dreams are shattered… :(

You’re the queen of cool shoes and socks. I love the blue button shoes - what a great idea. They remind me a little of a pair of burgundy corderoy shoes I had that were similar. I also love the yellowish shoes in the stripy sock of the week photo - where did those lovely shoes come from? xxxx
