Christmas Goodies

I am a fool for Christmas. It was the way I was raised. Not the hideous consumerism or the mountains of tacky-crap, but the parts of the season that are about creativity – making lovely Christmas cards and decorations to send to your friends...baking...the smell of pine trees, the smell of fruit mince and fresh strawberries...and the parts that are about hanging out with your lovely extended family.

There’s been some Christmas activity around here. Willoughby and I got some beautifully weathered old wooden pegs from the art recycling centre and made silver Christmas fairies to mail around NZ:

Here are the Christmas cards Willo made. I helped him by cutting out the trees he drew and folding the cards. I love how each tree is completely different and many are very quirky shapes:

& I have been making southern hemisphere angels out of my enormous tapa cloth stash. My parents found heaps of tapa cloth in the attic of their Taupo house. It is a bit holey in places. So I have an ongoing “1001 things to use tapa cloth for” project happening! Heh. (If you can think of anything that isn’t lampshades, wall art, chair cushion covers, cards or Christmas angels – do let me know!)

And in super-thrifty mode – I had to hem some new jeans (because I’m a shorty!) and I made these decorations from the denim off-cuts and some doilies:
