edgar
So I made my 6 month old niece a rabbit for Easter, because I love to make rabbits and because she’s too little for chocolate.
It was a dark blue velveteen rabbit with a freakishly long neck and a lugubrious face. I can’t seem to make happy toys - I’m like the Edgar Allen Poe of softies.
I put the blue rabbit on the mantle - my oldest son screams theatrically: “Scary! Too scary for a baby.”
My husband lifts the rabbit in front of his face and puts on his best Donnie Darko voice: “Wake up. I’ve been watching you.”
So I try again. I try to make a cuter rabbit. It looks kind of grumpy, too.
The baby doesn’t care. She chews the rabbits ears for a while and then she throws it on the ground and moves on to the next interesting thing.
