:good local content on youtube:

I found some excellent New Zealand things on youtube recently:

Poet Helen Rickerby made this lovely video of one of her poems. I think more poets should make videos - why let musicians have all the visual glory? If I could just work out how to use my very user-unfriendly video camera, I’d do it myself.

Wellington art school The Learning Connexion has a youtube channel, and their short art documentaries are really well-made and interesting. They also have some art lessons. I particularly enjoyed this one about Susan Knaap’s beautiful sky-scapes, and this one about Learning Connexion artists doing an installation as part of this year’s Fringe Festival, but there is heaps on their channel, well worth a noodle around.

And finally, this music video by the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra. I’m not mad keen on the whole ukulele craze - but the real star of this video is Cafe DeLux - one of my favourite cafes in NZ, and the adorable Wellington people in the audience. Good fun.

Do you notice anything all these videos have in common?

Wonderful Wellington!

I’m feeling a lot homesick for the city lately…
