house on fire
This Friday at the Palmerston North City Library at 7pm, my dear friend Tim Upperton will be launching his book ‘House on Fire’.
(You know how sometimes I write on here about house-sitting a place in the country with a horse and chickens etc? That’s Tim’s place!)
I read these poems before they were a beautiful book with a stunning cover (painting is by Tim’s sister, Katrina Upperton)...when they were a bunch of white A4 pages in a plastic binder. It was wonderful in that state, so I can’t wait to get my hands on the finished artefact.
The book is being published by Steele Roberts. Be sure to buy it to a) experience one of NZ’s finest poets and b) support one of NZ’s best poetry publishers.
‘House on Fire’, incidentally, is also the name of a wonderful song by NZer Renee Louise Carafice. I can’t hear the song without thinking of Tim now. No bad thing.
