:knitting class:
Knitting class again today - wow, it rolls around quickly!
I don’t know if there is anything sweeter than the excitement of eight year olds who have conquered the skill and, absorbed in their task, sit talking about all the things they are going to make for their friends and families now that they can knit.
Recruit them young, I say!

One of the teachers at our school started a knitting club for the winter terms and our Molly joined and loved it. She did alot of “dreaming up” what she was going to make etc but I think in the end they knitted squares for a blanket they donated to charity or something. (We didn’t see any finished knitting at home and because her mother is hopeless with needles she has unfortunately not had much encouragement. But granma suggested she could teach her some new stitches or whatever they’re called, if she wanted to know). Well done You on contributing to the school arts community and the warmth of the nation!

well done, helen! teaching kids to knit is no mean feat. i have fond memories of knitting peggy squares in primary school in lots of brightly coloured wool that my mum donated. i think one of the teachers sewed them all up into blankets for the red cross.
love those beautiful kiwi-kid faces!

What a great idea, knitting classes for the little ones. My girls can knit and love it.
