missed connections
Clever artist-lady takes ‘missed connections’ classifieds from the newspapers in New York and makes beautiful illustrations of them.
I particularly like the bear suit one. (above) Also hairy bearded swimmer.
There is something so poignant about the details in the ads, and the drawings.

If I were to write one, it would go like this:
Duckie nightclub, Vauxhall, South-West London. My 25th birthday.
You had on the same exactly shirt as me. You instantly gave me shit about wearing a “gay man’s shirt.”
We both got drunk around the same pace and danced the night away.
Every time I told you something about myself, you would squeal and go “Same! Omigod. Me too.”
We decided we were meant to be BFF.
You gave me your phone number, scrawled on the back of a tube ticket.
But I never did ring you, because I chickened out, and because that night was so spontaneous and excellent I didn’t want to ruin it.
But I have photographs of you in my photo album. You are chubby and cheeky and cute.
Maybe you would have been my London best-friend if I had rung you, and maybe you wouldn’t, but either way…
thanks for making my already fabulous 25th birthday, even better.
