nearly 35
We had a lovely time at the beach, and I’ll share some photos soon - but to do that I need to upload them...right now, that feels like work and lately I’m in a space where I’m trying to move slowly through the days, letting myself feel tired, go slow and mend - rest - breathe. And ignoring that long to-do list which never seems to get any shorter no matter how fast I go or how hard I work.
I’m 35 tomorrow. I feel a bit stunned about this. How did it happen? It sounds so grown up. Thirty-five.
Of course it happened the way life does - day by day, moment by moment.
For my 25th birthday, I was living in London - I invited a bunch of friends to Trafalger Square where we climbed up on to the famous lion statues and drank from a 1.5 litre bottle of Stolichnya vodka, then drunk and happy, we went dancing at my favourite club, Duckie, until four a.m, then we walked along, first the south and then across Albert Bridge to the north side of the Thames. It was a beautiful autumn night. We woke up in a heap on the floor of a friend’s lounge in Chelsea and then ate bagels for breakfast.
A birthday to remember.
35 will be rather more low-key. Pancakes with the boys, morning tea with lovely friends...then tomorrow night we’re off to see Willoughby’s school Pantomime.
Maybe not especially memorable, but perfect for who I am now, in the next moment and tomorrow.
